PROformance Coach Development Clinic

Mondays (4/22, 4/29, 5/6, and 5/20) at Claypit School from 5-6pm


This year WAYS is running a 4-class coaching development course with PROformance Soccer coaches.  These classes are open to all WAYS coaches, and cover a variety of topics (see curriculum below).  The main focus of these classes will be to discuss the core technical components related to individual player development and their team tactical application.  There will be also be a Question and Answer portion to each class, where coaches are able to ask the clinicians for help solving problems you may be currently facing with your team.  

Coaches need come with sneakers and non-business attire, they will be expected to have light athletic participation as necessary to demonstrate and perform exercises that will facilitate their learning.  These clinics are open to more experienced coaches, as well as very beginner level coaches, there will be something for everybody in this program.  Coaches are not required to commit to or attend every class. 

Monday April 22nd from 5-6pm

1.    25 Minutes - Technical Application of Dribbling: This would cover the key aspects of dribbling and provide two drills for coaches to train these skills
2.    15 Minutes - Tactical Application of Dribbling in a Match (areas on the field to dribble/why, areas on the field not to dribble/why, how to apply dribbling skills)
3.    15 Minutes – Lecture: What is Player Development? (Mental, Physical, Technical, Tactical)
4.    5 Minutes – Open Questions and Answers

Monday April 29nd from 5-6pm

1.    25 Minutes - Technical Application of Passing: This would cover the key aspects of passing and provide two drills for coaches to train these skills
2.    15 Minutes - Tactical Application of Passing in a Match (possession concepts, sections of the field that dictate passing, angles of support)
3.    15 Minutes – Lecture: How to Properly Structure a Practice (warm-up, drills, game allocation)
4.    5 Minutes – Open Questions and Answers

Monday May 6th from 5-6pm

1.    25 Minutes - Technical Application of Shooting: This would cover the key aspects of shooting and provide two drills for coaches to train these skills
2.    15 Minutes - Tactical Application of Shooting in a Match (crossing to volleying, 2nd distance shots, role of heading, danger areas on the field)
3.    15 Minutes – Lecture: Coaches Toolkit (5 key coaching methods and use) 
4.    5 Minutes – Open Questions and Answers

Monday May 20th from 5-6pm

1.    25 Minutes - Technical Application of 1v1 Defending: This would cover the key aspects of 1v1 defending
2.    15 Minutes - Tactical Application of Defending in a Match (individual and team approach)
3.    15 Minutes – Lecture: What is tactics? (key principles of defense and attack along with key positional roles and responsibilities)
4.    5 Minutes – Open Questions and Answers
