Children may play with others in their grade even if they are younger than the specified date range.
No refunds for Grades 4 through Grade 8 players after August 1st, unless for medical reasons.
Soccer is played in the rain! Wayland Soccer does not cancel due to rain. We will only cancel games due to unplayable field conditions if it rains heavily before the games or if there is lightning. Please check our web site at www.waylandsoccer.org for up to date field availability.
No player will be allowed to play with any of the following: Jewelry, this means NO EARRINGS!, Hard beads in hair, metal pins or clasps in hair, watches, metal cleats, casts, splints, or braces. Shin pads are required for all age groups and mouth guards are strongly recommended. It is the decision of the referee when safety is concerned. His/her decision is final.
We communicate almost exclusively through e-mail. Please check the email accounts frequently. Also please update your email in the system should it change. Often the coaches may wish to send short videos or other coaching material to the players. These messages will always be on topic. Please add your players email if you approve of this communication channel to your player.
Volunteer your Time as a Coach
Coaches, assistant coaches and managers are always needed; no experience required but licensing is encouraged. Start with the F course http://www.mayouthsoccer.org/coaches/coach_education/ and build your proficiency as you move up the age groups with your kids. WAYS offers coaching clinics, training manuals, books, DVDs, etc. for coaches. If you can’t attend practice and games, then you can help by being a manager and helping with team management such as scheduling, phone calls, etc. Get to know the beautiful game and grow your abilities and interest along with your kids!
Important Note: WAYS will refund the course fee for an F, E or D coaching license and rebate the registration fee for one child of any coach who earns an E or D coaching license.
Player Placement on Bays Teams
Players are placed on intramural (in town K, 1, 2, & 3) teams based on their school grade.
Players are placed on the travel teams (Grades 4 – 8) according to their school grade, age and skill level. The goal is to have kids play with kids of a similar ability. WAYS uses player evaluations by the coaches to assess skill levels of all players. Players registered by the deadline are given first consideration for a place on a team based on their skill level. Players not registered by the deadline may be slotted in to a team of the closest available skill level on a first come first served basis. If not enough players are registered to form a team, and/or if no parent volunteers to coach that team, then the players may not be able to play and registration fees will be returned.
